Boats of Solidarity by Aziz Bouzekri is a vibrant visual expression of solidarity with Gaza and Palestine. Four paper boats move together across a blue field of water, creating a sense of collective movement, connection, and shared purpose.
The boats are rendered in red, green, black, and white, drawing directly on the colors of the Palestinian flag and affirming Palestinian identity and presence. Their repeated form suggests people and communities coming together across borders in support of Gaza and the Palestinian people.
The use of the paper boat introduces an important contrast: although paper is fragile and easily torn, these boats remain afloat and continue forward. They can therefore be read as symbols of hope, resilience, unity, and solidarity. The flowing marks beneath and around the boats reinforce a sense of movement, suggesting that solidarity itself can cross distances and connect people who may be physically far from Gaza.
